"A Penny is Change" Campaign

 Program Outline

In 2003, Sylvia drew up a target plan with the chief of the village:

1. Increase awareness about health, hygiene, and education
2. Prioritize children's health and education
3. Increase Literacy Rates
4. Provide sustainable drinking water for the village
5. Build a learning center, library, and medical facilities, providing hands-on training for youth to have opportunities for future employment
6. Educate village of immediate health dangers (malaria, dengue, HIV, typhoid)
7. Ensure that all children attend formal full-time day school

8. Address deep-rooted socio-economic, environmental, institutional, and political problems related to the situation of children.

In 2003, Sylvia said, "I started this alone. It can be done. I did not want to go through NGO's or organizations where I don't have full knowledge of where and how the donations are being distributed. I am not rich, but I am financing this project by myself, with the help of friends and interested parties. 100% of donations go directly to the village. Once this village is prospering, I hope to continue working with other villages...countries."

"I believe Education is non-negotiable, and it's our job to take care of each other. Children are full human beings with dignity. It is our duty to protect that."

"Most people die unprepared for death, as they live unprepared for life, My religion is to live and die without regret."

"You alone CAN change the world, and together we can heal it."
